TIKI Talk Episode 48! The ACL Therapist Keagen Hadley!
Keagen talks his journey from patient to therapist from a mental and physical standpoint
TIKI Talk Episode 48 features doctor of occupational therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) specialist, and author Keagen Hadley!
A former college and semi-professional football player, Keagen suffered two major ACL injuries (one to each knee) that left him exposed to a life without football which turned out to have more psychological repercussions than he could have imagined.
After struggling to make progress with cognitive behavioral therapy, Keagen scoured the internet and found acceptance and commitment therapy, the practice that allowed for him to rise from a rock-bottom scenario to becoming a therapist himself, helping those who may be experiencing similar hardships.
Join Shane and Keagen as they discuss Keagen’s history with football, the movements required to play defensive line, his ACL injuries, the psychological ramifications of injury and losing part of your identity, hitting rock bottom, discovering ACT, what ACT is, Keagen’s breakthrough, becoming a therapist, growing his practice, red flags and warning signs, ways to be proactive, advice to his younger self, and more!
