All has been quiet on the Western front when it comes to newsletters, but behind the scenes the TIKI team has been as busy as ever as we work toward the launch of our SDK—the first productization of the technology we’ve been hard at work creating for the past two years.
Before we dive into details about what’s been happening down in Nashville (and Ireland and Brazil!) I have a question for the readers out there: Should we send more of the Substack content to your inboxes? Initially, we didn’t want to send every piece of content to our subscribers so as to not bombard inboxes, but we’re happy to do so if that’s something people would like. This would include blogs, podcasts, and full-length newsletters. As we ramp up the team, content updates will be more and more frequent. Let us know below:
Now, for the good stuff. We’ve been working overtime working toward a major milestone we like to call the Beachcomber Launch. Paying homage to our tiki bar roots (Mike thought of the name for the company while at a tiki bar in Boston, for those keeping score at home), Don’s Beachcomber was the first tiki bar established by Donn Beach (Don the Beachcomber) in California way back in 1933 after Prohibition had ended in the United States.
Our version of the Beachcomber (or, TIKI 1.0) consists of some major milestones and releases as well as updated strategies and messaging. The major components are as follows:
Release of the TIKI SDK to the public
Closing of our seed round
Approval and establishment of the TIKI DAO
Hiring of new team members
New website and messaging
New content strategy deployment
Creation of educational content for users and developers (SDK)
Party! Launch party at the TIKI office in Nashville
There’s some subtasks relevant to each portion of the Beachcomber launch, but, generally speaking, completion of the first 7 goals will lead to the 8th, a celebration for all that we have accomplished in our journey to un-fuck the internet. It’s been a wild ride so far.
Follow Ricardo’s Journey Developing the TIKI SDK
A few months ago, I told Ricardo that he should keep our Discord community updated weekly about what he has been working on as the lead mobile dev for the TIKI team. It’s turned into one of my favorite parts of our content. When you’re building something completely new, you rely not only on past knowledge but on your ability to adapt and learn on the fly. Ricardo has been growing immensely as a developer and it’s been a pleasure to witness his growth. - Shane
