Moving On Up

Greetings TIKI tribe! A lot has happened since our crowdfunding campagin closed in late October. The biggest news for us is our move to Nashville, Tennessee! We’re settling in quite nicely (more on that below).

We’ve also moved our content here to Substack, where we’ll be sharing news from the data ownership world, as well as keeping you all apprised of the progress we’re making with the TIKI app.

You’re getting this newsletter today because you signed up on mytiki.com to get access to the beta app and stay apprised of TIKI’s progress. If you’re no longer interested, we won’t take offense. You can unsubscribe below.

If, on the other hand, you found us on Substack and want to subscribe, you can do that, too!

Our 100-Day Plan

The TIKI 100-Day Plan

What’s Happening with Your Data

My TIKI
Your private life made public
I don’t mind smartphone apps that track my whereabouts. That valuable geographic information might be the basis for my alibi should I ever be falsely accused of knocking off a bank. Ha. That’s the wisecrack I used whenever conversations among friends turned towards data privacy (which, to be fair, wasn’t often). I was …

I see it now: A layperson’s eye opening to the current state of personal data
A few years ago, a friend of mine gifted me a palm-sized Betty White refrigerator magnet. It wasn’t my birthday or a holiday — she’d just seen it in a small bookstore and knew I’d like it. I did. I’ve fancied Betty White for years. And I love gifts like this, the kind that show that your friend really knows you…

Who owns your #healthdata? Not you. Medical providers own your #medicalrecords - & those apps & wearables that track your food, fitness & more? It's probable those apps own that data, too. - via @statnews statnews.com/2021/11/15/its… #dataownership #fitness #app #tech
statnews.comIt’s time for individuals — not doctors or companies — to own their health dataOwning a copy of your health data does not change property law, medical record requirements, or hinder the advancement of science. But it does build health equity by giving everyone equal access to their lifetime medical data.
