Cashback Connections User Journey and Breakdown
Active loyalty, custom rewards, full transparency.
Cashback Connections combines three powerful features (card-linked offers, physical receipt scan, email receipt fetch) with our data licensing technology to create a rewards program that compensates your users for their transaction and receipt data, all while unlocking new revenue streams for your business, fully optimizing the power of receipt and SKU-level transaction data in an ethical and compliant way.
And the pricing checks in at a manageable $0/mo. For real.
Cashback Connections Features
Card-linked offers (CLO) are a popular marketing strategy, leveraging digital technology and traditional payment cards to incentivize customer loyalty. Users link their cards to a loyalty program or app, and when they make purchases at partner merchants, discounts or rewards are automatically earned. This seamless integration eliminates the need for physical vouchers and manual offer activation, making it convenient for customers.
Our advanced data licensing technology aggregates and merges user-permissioned transaction data from various sources, creating unique, valuable datasets that are legally sourced for use cases such as AI model training, quantitative trading, and marketing measurement. When sold, this opens a new revenue stream for your business and adds additional cash on top of CLO payouts to users.Physical receipt (optional) transforms and stitches photos of receipts into structured machine-readable datasets through a straightforward scanning process. Powered by Amazon Textract and our data licensing technology, it ensures accurate and efficient text extraction of monetizable data from scanned images —with industry-leading privacy and security standards.
Email receipt (optional) streamlines the process of extracting receipt data from emails. It integrates multiple technologies, including extracting emails from connected Gmail and Outlook accounts. Gmail and Outlook integrations utilize OAuth2 for authorization without storage of user credentials, with emails read exclusively from a list of known receipt senders to preserve user privacy. Email fetch is also powered by Amazon Textract.
The Cashback Connections product comes with its own pre-configured UI, or customize it to fit your brand guidelines. It is built to be dropped directly into your app or site and is compatible with iOS, Android, and Capacitor.
Cashback Connections User Journey
Offer Screen and Data Licensing Agreement (UDLA)
Cashback Connections can be dropped into any part of your current user journey, and the first touchpoint for new users is the Offer Screen. The Offer Screen introduces the Cashback Connections program and provides an estimate to the user about what they can expect to earn in a monthly or quarterly period by exchanging their data.
Estimates are generated in one of two ways:
Businesses that provide historical transaction data for their users allows us to customize their estimate based on their actual spending habits. We can combine transaction history with known card-linked offers to give an accurate cashback range.
If historical transaction data is not provided, an estimated cashback range is given based on payouts to the average mytiki user.
Standard card-linked offers are predominantly of the percent cashback variety, (e.g. get 3% cashback on all purchases at Walmart). With Cashback Connections, users can expect an actual dollar cashback range to be sent their way every month or quarter so simply by shopping at eligible merchants. When a user opens your business’ application, transaction data is matched with existing CLOs, and the cashback amount accrues in the User Dashboard until the next payout period.
Let’s make this all legal and compliant.
Program Terms (UDLA)
Should the user elect to get a cashback estimate, they’ll be brought to the Program Terms screen, which displays the User Data Licensing Agreement (UDLA). The UDLA is versatile in that it’ll make your legal team happy while also providing users with a transparent understanding of the program terms. This consists of outlining:
the data to be exchanged,
for what purposes and duration the data can be used,
and what compensation the user will receive in return for licensing their data
The UDLA is different from typical terms of service agreements in that it is specific to the users’ data. Always additive, users do not lose access to your app or site by electing to not participate in Cashback Connections. However, if they do elect to participate, users legally share zero-party data with both mytiki and your business and get fairly compensated for doing so.
Data licensing powers Cashback Connections. Let’s move forward in the journey to what Cashback Connections looks like when a user agrees to the UDLA.
Exploring the Cashback Connections Home Screen and User Dashboard
Cashback Connections is designed so that users can shop as they regularly do without having to deal with manual CLO activation. However, the Cashback Connections product provides intuitive quality-of-life features to help users visualize how their regular shopping is contributing to their cashback rewards.
The User Dashboard is designed to be simple yet informative and showcases a user’s current earnings, progress toward their full estimated payout, as well as their lifetime earnings.
The User Dashboard is also the hub for displaying relevant card-linked offers from thousands of eligible merchants in the Increase Earnings section. If your business has elected to offer the Email Receipt feature, the Increase Earnings section also includes Gmail and Outlook.
Earnings Progress
The Earnings section of the User Dashboard is simple and to-the-point. New users will get a first look at their cashback estimate as advertised on the Offer Screen. As mentioned, this estimate is either customized based on user transaction history, or estimated based on the average mytiki user.
Each time a user opens your application, transaction history (since the last app open) is sent to mytiki, packaged into a machine-readable format, and matched with eligible CLOs in near real-time. This allows for monthly/quarterly earnings to be updated in the User Dashboard as users shop with their linked card.
Increase Earnings
Alright, let’s peel a layer back on some of this CLO stuff. Cashback Connections CLOs are frictionless, meaning users spend with their linked card and earn cashback rewards from eligible merchant offers without having to do anything extra (other than periodically opening your app to update data).
That being said, if users want to maximize their earnings and reach the high end of their cashback estimate, it’s important for them to know which merchants are participating.
Enter the Increase Earnings section. Here, a list of brand icons is displayed in horizontal scroll, with a swipe up on the screen opening up the full Increase Earnings Tray.
Tapping a brand icon in this section will open a Merchant Account page, which lists all relevant card-linked offers for the selected merchant. CLOs are displayed for both online and in-store purchases (if location is enabled) and vary on activations, amounts, dates, and terms and conditions.
The more data provided by the user, the more relevant the Increase Earnings section becomes. Offers from frequently patronized merchants and from local merchants can be prioritized to the top of the stack, etc. As a service provider, mytiki can filter offers for each individual user based on their spending habits and location.
After viewing an offer, users can simply shop per usual. When the user next opens your app or website, transactions become eligible for CLO matching and reward accruement where applicable.
When Physical Receipt is enabled, users will also be able to manually scan receipts from a Merchant Account page. The user can scan receipts from any merchant (CLO-eligible or not) from any Merchant Account page.
Show More Screen
Users who would like to learn more about their involvement in the Cashback Connections program can access a detailed breakdown of the top merchants contributing to their cashback payouts, link or unlink their Gmail or Outlook accounts (if Email Receipt feature is enabled) and view a simplified, user-friendly version of the UDLA.
Additionally, users can report issues, view the full UDLA, and opt out of Cashback Connections on the Show More screen.
Largest Contributors
The Largest Contributors section of the Show More screen displays a graph similar to the one found on the User Dashboard. This graph breaks down the top contributors to their cashback payouts, giving the user more depth of understanding of how their spending impacts their cashback reward. The top 3 merchants are listed by percentage, with the remaining graph percentage being the combined contribution of all other merchants.
Linked Accounts
Another simple feature. When Email Receipt is enabled, icons for Gmail and/or Outlook are displayed. By tapping either icon, users transition to a specific Email Account page for each email client. From an Email Account page, users can link and unlink email accounts via Google and Microsoft APIs. Users can link multiple accounts for each email client, ensuring all eligible email receipt data are fetched and turned into licensable assets to further increase cashback payouts.
Program Details
While we made our UDLA as transparent and readable as possible, it’s still a legal document. Many users are accustomed to breezing past legal agreements, skimming them, or believing they won’t understand an ounce of it even if they did read it.
The Program Details section takes the UDLA and condenses it into a more user-friendly format. Here’s the data that is collected, here’s specifically how it’s used. That’s it! To view the full UDLA, users can simply tap the Data licensing agreement button.
